Who am I?
My name is Kate and I'm 23 years old.
I am British. (For my American followers - I frequently partake in beverages with numerous members of the Royal Family)
I was born and raised in Wednesfield, Wolverhampton which is in the West Midlands.
I have Type 1 Diabetes; I was diagnosed at the age of 10 (for more info see the Diabetes page)
My biggest passion in life is cycling; has bike, will race.
It is the final two of the above points that brings us to the purpose of this blog; to document my exploits racing for the world's only diabetic specific racing team. Diabetes has been a royal pain in the butt and yet, because I have the disease, I have been given an opportunity to race in the US with 8 other women who suffer from the same condition. Our aim; to prove that we can compete with the best female riders in the world even if our pancreases are just along for the ride!
At this point, not wanting to sound like some overly emotional Oscar winner - I need to say some thank you's. Firstly - I need to thank my sponsors - Mamil Cycling and Nosh Retail. Secondly - I need to thank my very supportive family, friends and boyfriend. And finally I need to thank my coach or should I say 'bringer of pain' Craig. Without his continued support I wouldn't be as fit as I am now and most certainly not competing with world champions.
